C. flavicans is arguably the most beautiful native grass to buy for your garden. The weeping leaves are evergreen and from these throughout summer emerge arching stems which carry large (30cm) green seed heads ageing to light brown. A truly graceful grass and certainly suitable as a feature in any garden whether planted as a specimen or mass planted.
The 12mm wide leaves are about 1m high, but with the stems of flowering plumes, this height raises to 1.5m.
In the wild, they are found growing on cliffs and rock faces so will understandably prefer free draining conditions but will cope with most situations as long as they are not water- logged.
