Perovskia atriplicifolia (Russian Sage)

Perovskia atriplicifolia, also known as Russian Sage after the Russian count who introduced the plant to western shores, will offer interest throughout the year. It will grow up to 150cm with upright white stems which hold fine grey-green leaves which are very aromatic when crushed. In late summer right through to early autumn you can enjoy a wispy haze of blue from the tiny blue flowers which are borne on the stems.

Native to Pakistan this perennial is ideal for hot, dry conditions and will look good in a border planted amongst other sun loving plants but also alone in a container.

In early spring, when there are signs of new growth, cut back to between 8 and 12 inches.
