Achillea millefolium 'Cerise Queen'
Achillea millefolium 'Cerise Queen' is the plant for you if you are looking for a long flowering, easy care plant in the deep reddish pink range of colour. Throughout summer you will have clusters of the vibrant pink flowers fading to white in the centre. These are held in flat plate-like flower heads making an interesting change from spikes and mounds. These are borne on slender yet sturdy stems reaching up to 60 cm. in height. The foliage is a lovely mid green low mound of fragrant ferny leaves beautifully complimenting the flowers.
Achillea millefolium 'Cerise Queen' an easy perennial, growing in nearly any sunny situation, its preference is for dry soils though will grow in most soil types, bar the very wet. Like most herb plants, it thrives with little fertility. If your soil is very rich and fertile, plants may be trimmed back hard after the first flush of bloom, to maintain a compact habit and avoid floppy/leggy growth. Avoid overcrowding to increase the plant's longevity as it likes light on its basal foliage.
The bright flowers are irresistible to butterflies, and also make excellent cut or dried flowers.
