Physostegia virginiana 'Rosea'

False dragonhead, the Obedient plant is as showy as it is hardy. This fully hardy perennial boasts its intense colour from mid -summer through to early autumn.

The spreading perennial has mid green foliage. The large leaves are lance-shaped, sharply toothed and curved like a spoon. 

The tubular, deep purple or bright lilac-pink flowers have inflated mouths, and are borne on tall racemes. If these flowers are moved on the stalks, they will remain in their new position; this is why it is commonly known as the Obedient Plant. These captivating flowers are very attractive to bees and ideal for cut flowers.

P.Rosea is ideally positioned in a situation where it has full sun with reliably moist soil though it will cope in most soils as long as they are not water- logged.
